How to read this comparison
Life expectancy at birth summarizes mortality conditions into a number of years. This is a population statistic for the period, not a prediction of how long a particular newborn will live. Compare both the level of each bar and its change through time.
Use it in your presentation
Use this clip in a demographic or public-health history presentation with its definition alongside it. Avoid interpreting the ranking as a comprehensive health-system score. Download the table if you need to inspect small gaps that may be hard to see in the moving chart.

Method and limitations
The series does not establish why mortality changed. National averages hide differences by sex, region and other circumstances. The six selected years omit annual variation; the animation between them is illustrative interpolation and cannot date a short-lived change precisely.
Values are retained in the source unit and rounded to four decimal places in the reusable dataset. Six observation years are selected: 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2023. Every selected country has a value at each chosen year; no missing value was filled. This frozen historical range makes the examples comparable and does not claim to include the latest available observations.
The animation uses a fixed zero-based scale and linear value interpolation, with time proportional to the year gaps. The bars reorder numerically; changing row position is an animation effect. The clip lasts ten seconds at 30 fps, including an opening pause and a 1.5-second final hold.
